Mission Statement

My mission as an elementary librarian is to reach out and treat each student with dignity, compassion and respect that each human being deserves so that each student can realize their potential. I will establish a literature rich diverse environment where all students can be successful and will do this by continually participating in professional development and reflecting on changes that will improve performance. I will use positive opportunities to help students learn how to become effective users of ideas and information, inspiring them to become lifelong learners and productive citizens in our global society.

Lost or Damaged Books

Where should students pay their fines?

Students need to bring their book fine money to the front office or through InTouch. They will be given a receipt at that time and then may again check out library materials. Refunds will not be given if the book is not returned within that particular school year.

Lost or Damaged Materials

Lost materials or those that are damaged must be paid for at the purchase price. Please do not try and fix a damaged book, just bring it to the library as soon as possible.

Library Expectations

Show a positive attitude at all times.
Leave personal items in class.
All students are expected to checkout a library book each week or bring something to read with them to library.
If students are not checking out books they are expected to sit quietly and read.
Return books on time.
Sit in your class's designated area.
Chairs in the library are three position chairs, they are not made for rocking.
Use a whisper voice.
Be considerate of others who are working.
Check out materials before leaving the library.
Treat all library resources and equipment in the library with respect.
Food, gum, or drink is not allowed.
When others are waiting, limit the time you spend on electronic and online resources.
Cooperate with the librarian and the library assistant.

Overdue Books

Students are not charged a fine for library materials that are overdue. If a student has an overdue book or a fine that is outstanding, he/she will not be allowed to check out any other materials until that fine is paid. It is important to return library materials in a timely manner so that other students may benefit from the library’s resources. At the end of the year if books have not been returned or fines have not been paid the student may not be allowed to participate in Field Day Activities.
